West Valley police looking into overnight shooting

West Valley City police are investigating the details surrounding a shooting that occurred in the early morning hours of Tuesday. Around 3:30 a.m. officers were called to a hospital in the area, where a man was being treated for a gun shot wound to the shoulder. The man told detectives he was shot while sitting in a vehicle by someone he didn't know, and had to be taken to the hospital by some friends.

The man was treated and eventually released from the hospital, but his name has not been disclosed. So far there is no evidence indicating the shooting was related to either gangs or drugs, but investigators are still going through the area looking for evidence and conducting interviews with witnesses.
